Odyssey of the Mind Success

The Odyssey of the Mind World Finals competition was held at Iowa State University from May 23-26, 2012. 2 teams represented CHS/CSHS by competing proudly and at the highest level.  Odyssey of the Mind is a creative, problem-solving competitive program where teams of up to 7 students work together to creatively solve one of five Odyssey problems issued at the start of the school year. The teams present their solutions during tournament competitions, and this year's World finals included 815 teams from 15 countries.

Carroll High School Team, back to back Texas State Champions and second time competitors at World Finals, placed 20th in the Vehicular Problem, Division 3. They are: Ann Dahl and Allison Newman (CHS), Braden Anderson, Christie Ballew, Spencer Lankford, Mackenzie Murphy and Jack Veenker (DMS). Coaches: Megan and Carl Anderson and Shauna Newman

Carroll High School Team, back to back Texas State Champions and 5th time competitors at World Finals, happily placed 2nd in the Technical Problem, Division 3. This is the second time three students of this team have won second place in the technical problem. They are: Jenna Buckley, Nico Scalzo, Emilie Featherston, Nathalie Scherer, Annie Newman and Lindsey Weiss. Coaches: Cynthia Featherston and Micki Scalzo


We are once again so proud of our Dragons and their success.

Dragon Sophomore...Southlake Youth of the Year

After being nominated for Southlake's Youth of the Year, meeting all criteria and having been interviewed by a panel, Tori Pimentel, has been selected and awarded Southlake's Youth of the Year!  This award is for youth that have been nominated by an educator in grades 7-12 in the Southlake Carroll ISD. We are so proud of everything our Dragons have completed this year and especially proud of Tori's "Operation Sweet 16."

Yearbooks are Here!

If you ordered a 2011-2012 CHS yearbook, you can pick it up during lunch this Wed and Thursday in the cafeteria. Check the posted list for your name, get in the appropriate line on the cafeteria stage, and get your yearbook.

We will also sell extra yearbooks for $70 on a first-come, first-served basis.

SPARK Message: Debbie Fresch's Tragic Loss

With the end of the school year approaching, CISD with SPARK is providing this video to help families and students discuss the importance of making wise decisions.

Debbie Fresch lost her son the summer before his junior year in a tragic accident that involved students driving while under the influence of alcohol. We hope that you will view the video; Ms. Fresch shares her perspective and her family’s terrible loss.

We have shown the video to classes at both Carroll High School and Carroll Senior High School, so your student may have already seen the video. If he/she missed it, please take this opportunity to watch the video with your student and discuss this issue.
