CEF Change Week

With the Carroll Education Foundation (CEF) fundraiser on the horizon, CHS along with the rest of our CISD schools will be hosting a change week September 24-28, 2012. We certainly look forward to our students and staff participating. Let's see who has a little cowboy/cowgirl deep down inside.

Monday- Western Hat Day
Tuesday- Cowboy Boot Day
Wednesday- Western Shirt Day
Thursday- Big Belt Buckle Day
Friday- Always Dragon Spirit Day

The CHS class collecting the most money will receive a Chick Fil A party. In addition, CEF will match all funds collected, up to $500. Let's make a difference through CEF.

Parents Invited To Review "Big Decisions" Health Curriculum

Starting this year, Carroll ISD has updated its school health curriculum at the request of parents to include information on healthy relationships and how to prevent disease and unplanned pregnancy through abstinence and other means. Studies have shown that this type of instruction gives teens the confidence to avoid risky behavior and make good choices. To complement this curriculum, CISD is hosting a parent-only session to offer a preview of the updated health curriculum and answer any questions that parents may have about this curriculum.

Who: Health parents
What: Discuss human sexuality curriculum “Big Decisions”
Where: CHS Lecture Hall (former art rooms on the northwest side of the building)
When: 6:30 PM, October 2nd, 2012

Teen pregnancy is a problem in Texas. In 2010, our state had the third highest rate of teen pregnancies in the U.S. Sixty-four of 1,000 births are to teenage mothers, higher than the national rate of 43 births to teenagers per 1,000 births nationally. Tarrant County has a teenage birthrate of 56 per 1,000 births, and our zip code does not make our kids immune to these issues.

Curriculum Night

We would like to thank all families for the wonderful time at CHS Curriculum Night on Wednesday. While we certainly regret scheduling on a night where we have other activities going on we did feel confident in the large number of families in attendance.

I can assure you we love the great importance our families place on getting to know our teachers and our curriculum. The support you provide makes this job better for everyone at CHS.

Officer Allen Smith Honored Sunday

Below is a video link which was shared to me from Lead Pastor Clayton Reed, Southlake Baptist Church. Please take a moment to view this and possibly share a positive note with Officer Smith. He is truly one of our students best advocates and a man we love to see at CHS every single day. Another thank you should go out to the members of this organization for honoring a great individual.
