Homecoming Notice

Parents and students as you know our Homecoming Dance will be next Saturday, October 29th at the Gaylord. This is a special event and is a school sponsored event and as such students are expected to abide by the student code of conduct. We all are looking forward to this special night and want all students to have a great time. Each year we have anywhere from 1800-2200 students that attend the HC Dance. With this in mind we need your help, please reiterate to your student we want them to have an awesome time and to dress and dance appropriately.

As you can imagine dances have changed just a bit since many of us attended these many years ago just as the music and style of dance has changed. We are and will remind kids to have a great time but please don't dance in a way that is inappropriate. The last thing we want to do is to embarrass them by having to ask them to stop or ultimately to leave.

If you would like to see a little bit of comedy form our CSHS students please watch this KCBY video.

Parents we would love to have you come out and chaperone the dance which starts at 7:30 and concludes at midnight. If you interested in chaperoning please contact either principal so we can add you to our list.

Diving Success

The CISD diving program was notified Lauren Crown a sophomore and Bryce Klein a junior have been chosen to attend the Diving Olympic Trials June 17-24 in Seattle, Washington for the 2012 Olympics. Lauren and Bryce are among the youngest to qualify. We are the only school district that has both male and female diver. There are only 35 boys and 35 girls who are chosen in the country. Out of those, 5-7 are in high school, the rest are in college.

This is such an honor for our athletes and CISD is so proud of their hard work and commitment.

EOC Meeting Tonight Canceled

Out of sensitivity for those wishing to attend the services tonight, our planned meeting to explain End of Course exams will be rescheduled. Please remember we will also meet this Wednesday in the CHS library at noon and then again next week on October 12 at 6 PM. If a replacement date is added we will send the data to all families immediately.

We are sorry for the late notice but certainly believe it is more important to support our families tonight.

CHS Apology

Please accept our sincere apology for including a statement about the loss of a CISD student among other routine stories listed in the Dragon Diary this past weekend. As Principal, I do not believe this was an appropriate place to include comments about such a sensitive matter. I have put procedures in place to ensure this doesn't happen again, and appreciate your forgiveness and understanding. It was never anyone's intention to be insensitive about such a significant loss for the CHS family, but unfortunately, that's how it came across. Please know that we care deeply about those who are suffering and want only to help ensure effective communication of news affecting CHS students and staff. In the future, you can rest assured that announcements of this nature will be sent separately from weekly school news and approved by campus leaders before being broadcast to CHS families.
